Open .iso, .bin & .cue, .img, .nrg , .uif and other disc image files

Well, I have to write a blog about this since I have been having a hard time answering the same old question when people get files downloaded from torrent sources or from p2p networks - How do I open .iso or .uif file? In forums or in comments, most people would say use Daemon Tools. In this case, my answer is different, use Magic Disc. Why? Because it's free and very convenient to use aside from having support to most of the available disc images for download. To download the file from RapidShare, click HERE.

Step-by-Step Guide

  1. You need to get the software installed and when asked to reboot, do so. Once the computer finishes rebooting, you will see an icon in your system tray that looks like a disk with a hand. That will tell you that you now have Magic Disc running in your machine. You will also notice that you will have an additional CD-Drive in your machine, that is your virtual drive created by Magic Disc.
  2. Now you have the software installed, it's time to open an iso file. Navigate to the folder in you computer where you saved an iso file. You will know that it is an iso when the icon for the file looks like a disc - what else do you think it would look like?
  3. Right click on the iso file and choose MagicISO, then select Mount the media.....iso then choose the drive letter created by Magic Disc - the virtual drive that is.
  4. If you have autorunning of disc from drives enabled, then you should automatically see a selection of choices what to do with the loaded disk. If you have disabled autorun because of concerns with virus infection through autorun process, then you have to open My Computer then select the virtual drive created by Magic Disc and open that drive. You should now see the contents of the .iso file or any disc image file.
  5. Once you are done with using the virtual drive, make sure to unmount all drives or else you will have problems ejecting any USB device where your iso file was saved. To Unmount all drives, right click the virtual drive and select MagicISO then choose Unmount all drives. This will unload all your loaded iso files and hopefully, you can now eject your USB drive.

If you still have problems with this tutorial, please do not hesitate to post a comment. I will post a reply as early as I can. Thanks.
